Shiver

Shiver is a member of the band Deep Cut, and represents a third of the Splatfests that occur in Splatsville, a town overrun with chaotic anarchy. She has a giant shark she rides named Master Mega, which is infused with ink and can ride and wade through it. While doing a splatfest with her co-stars Big Man and Frye, the Collider pulled the three into Black Hole- but the Splatfest must go on! Are you team Squirtle?

Shiver utilizes a shark that she rides for all of her moveset, splitting her hitboxes into a more resistant, bigger one that takes reduced damage while her smaller one will take more damage. Additionally, her ink has frosty effects which allows her to induce freeze if stacks multiple times. Her shark makes her a bit more heavy but riding along ink will make her surprisingly nimble and she can gain great vertical momenteum and movement with moves like her Meganado and Maw of the Mega. Careful to not run out of ink though- she needs it to get the most of her kit.

Gimmick: Master Mega

Shiver rides atop Master Mega, who takes 0.8x damage while Shiver's hitbox, which atop of Master Mega's and is much smaller, will take 1.2x damage from attacks. Additionally, Master Mega rides slow against the ground but Shiver can cover it ink which will cause them to be much faster and gain more momenteum across it. Shiver's blue ink inflicts Absorber and Frost on impact for opponents, while walking across it will inflict Shoe-Glue and Frost over time. Frost is a weaker version of the Frozen effect that can be stacked- initally all it does is make opponents colder and take less damage from Burn attacks but if it stacks up to three times it'll inflict the traditional Frozen effect.

Like other Splatoon characters, Shiver's attacks rely on a ink meter which must stay filled to induce ink in her attacks otherwise they become very weak and don't use ink. Additionally, Shiver's knockback resistance will lower greatly if they have no ink.
Moveset
Mega Splatana
Shiver releases a blade slash of ink atop of Master Mega, dealing 8 damage across the paint attack, with 12 damage if done at a sweetspot. It also leaves behind ink across enemies and the floor, which inflicts Shoe-Glue and deals frost, a chilly status that can inflict Frozen if frost is stacked a total of 3 times. It also slows the opponent. Master Reefslider
Shiver rides Master Mega forward, doing a charge attack that deals 9 damage and knocks opponent back before exploding to deal a explosive splash of ink that deals 15-7 damage, which also inflicts Absorber and Frost. This only moves horizontally and goes out for a total of 9 character spaces. Cancel with the special attack button to have the splash attack come out early.
Maw of the Mega
Shiver goes into the ground with Master Mega and then bursts from the ground in a leap, doing a spin attack in the air before flopping back down to the ground to deal a splash attack that inflicts 15-7 damage with paint that inflicts Absorber and Frost. The rising attack can swallow and chomp opponents to deal 17 damage before knocking them away at a downward diagonal angle, covered in blue ink. Meganado
Shiver creates a tornado of ink that costs half of their ink tank to create, which they can nudge to the left or right to bring in opponents, inflicting 0.7 damage per 20 frames that they're trapped inside, as well as being dealt 8 damage with chomp attacks Shiver can do with the attack button. Shiver can also jump out of the Meganado at a high vertical velocity boost. When a opponent is inside the ink tornado, they get inflicted with the Absorber and Frozen effects.
Replenish
/
Shiver morphs into the ground with Master Mega and starts to refill their ink tank. On surfaces covered in their blue ink, they'll gain a buff to how fast it refills. In this stage they have a much shorter hitbox but will take additional knockback if hit. They're still vulernable, after all.
Finishers
Inknado
Level 1
Shiver creates a ink tornado that can be used as a launcher for her and Master Mega, giving them incredible vertical velocity. It can also be chained into Meganado to give more additional air and cover more of the stage. The ink tornado cannot be moved but it will inflict 2 damage every 20 frames for opponents that are caught in it and it stays active for 8 seconds. Ink tornado also covers about five character lengths both right and left with their ink, which inflicts Shoe-Glue and Frost effects.
O-Mega Beam
Level 2
Shiver laughs devilishly on the top of Master Mega and slaps the shark on the cheek, causing Master Mega to open his maw and fire out a large blast laser of blue ink that deals 15 damage on first hit and inflicts 1 damage per 20 frames while active, staying active for 5 seconds. The player can angle the laser blast and it will coat surfaces in a blue ink that inflicts Shoe-Glue and Frost effects.
Deepest Cut
Level 3
Shiver, Frye, and Big Man come together for a Deep Cut performance atop of the Octostomp body that Frye owns, with Master Mega and Frye's eels nestled inside as it expands to full size, raining three different colors of ink from above as they perform a song called Anarchy Rainbow. Ink comes in three colors, which each have different effects:
  • Red (Big Man): Red ink inflicts Shoe-Glue and Poison effects, dealing 3 damage each 30 frames as opponents have it stuck on them and it coats the stage as a carpet material.
  • Yellow (Frye): Yellow ink inflicts Shoe-Glue and Burn effects, dealing 3 damage each 30 frames as opponents have it stuck on them and it coats the stage as a carpet material.
  • Blue (Shiver): Blue ink inflicts Shoe-Glue and Frost effects, dealing 3 damage each 30 frames as opponents have it stuck on them and it coats the stage as a carpet material.
The performance lasts a total of 15 seconds before the Octostomp platform is released and Shiver says goodbye to her bandmates as she goes back to riding atop Master Mega. Octostomp lands in the center of the stage and deals 45 damage flat to any opponents, as well as Flattening them.
